周鸿祎在其微博中写道：“现在每个人都想拥有高性能的智能手机，高富帅白富美人手一IPHONE，难道吊丝只能买便宜低档货？360作为一个开放平台自己不做手机，但我们决定和国际国内厂商合作，推出多款360用户特供机，希望伙伴基本是零利润把高配置智能手机特供给360用户，大家希望第一款什么牌子什么配置什么价格呢 听大家的建议”
此前，小米、阿里巴巴、百度等均已经触及手机产业。而目前盛大也将进入手机制造行业，并准备推出低价的智能手机。此外，新浪和腾讯也推出过内置其应用的定制手机。
